The piece is inspired by the ‘brutalist’ concrete shell of St.Peters Seminary in Cardross, Scotland. Gillespie Kidd & Coia’s monumental building has had a longstanding impact and curiosity for us in terms of pioneering modernism in Scotland. We are pleased that this forgotten about building is now being brought back to life again by NVA as a venue for concerts, art events and education projects.

Briggs & Cole “Art + Design Works” is a Glasgow based Design Studio founded in 2012 by Glasgow School of Art graduates Jane Briggs & Christy Cole. Our company specialise in exclusive limited editions of Art and Design for interiors – including furniture, lighting, objects d’art, large scale artworks, fabric and wallpaper prints.

Embedded within each product or project, there is an exceptionally unique collage work which involves a high degree of complex layering. Every design piece tells a story – made by hand in the studio using a variety of processes which have been developed in direct response to working with specific materials on projects which enliven and captivate the person(s) it’s being made for and surrounding environment. These range from working with clients / partners within residential interior design, stores and installations as well as bespoke furniture production.

Special Art / Design / Interior Projects

For something quirky, luxurious, collectible and exclusive, Briggs & Cole offer a coveted and expertise design consultancy service focusing on the creation of high end, ‘one of a kind’ pieces. Working closely with esteemed fabricators and artisans in the UK, Briggs & Cole are committed to finding new materials and techniques which enhance the integrity and desirability of our products. Working with select manufacturers is important because of a mutual understanding of what the design project is pertaining to achieve – which material, form or finish will differ in detail but each will end in a result where the client has been part of a collaboration to create their piece. Recent examples include highly coveted one off functional art  / furniture design commissions to creating bespoke exhibitions about Heirlooms and the role of design led objects.
