I work in a way that’s unnecessarily and deliberately time consuming with a drawing board, technical pens and digital manipulation, using varied source material of photographs, misremembered details and sketches.

As a collage of urban typologies and textures, I find Glasgow an endlessly interesting subject- My friend has this amazing view onto the chimneys of the Arlington baths through his kitchen window, and this piece records a moment of constantly changing domestic life as a frame to the more enduring backdrop of Glasgow’s architecture.

Glasgow based Architectural Designer and Illustrator Lauren Li Porter makes densely populated and playful drawings of buildings, people and food spanning hand drawing, digital illustration and animation. Her approach is heavily informed by her Architectural training having studied at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Versailles and the Mackintosh School of Architecture, where she has also taught on the subject of Drawing and Narrative.

Li Porter’s work has been widely published in Architectural publications including the Architectural Review, Blueprint and Urban Realm and she is the winner of the 2012 W O Hutcheson award for drawing. Her debut solo exhibition BUILDINGS + FOOD took place at Graven’s pavement gallery from May-July 2015.
